The wait is over!! Our Fall schedule is here :)

I am so excited to share that we've switched to a new online registration platform, and I think you'll find that it's incredibly user friendly!

We will once again be offering multi-class discounts, as well as sibling discounts. Those will automatically be applied at checkout. You can find the tuition and discount breakdown here

If your dancer is interested in taking more than 6 classes, you may find that the single dancer pass is a more affordable option. To register for the single dancer pass, you will need to fill out this form . Payment may be made by cash, check, or Venmo. Once you've completed those steps, I will enter your dancer into StudioLAB, and you will be able to complete your family profile there.

We are giving our current families a headstart on registration so that your dancers have the best chance to get into their first choice classes! We will share our Fall information publicly on August 2.

If a class your dancer is interested in is full, please add their name to the wait-list, as plans change and spots often open up!

Nutmeg’s 2024 Dance Show Ticket Sales Information

Hi, everyone. Please read all of the information below in regards to ticket sales. If you have any questions, please email me at NutmegsDance@gmail.com, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks so much.

~ Online ticket sales will begin on Monday, April 22 at 10:15 am . There is no limit on how many tickets a family can purchase this year, however, there are no refunds, exchanges, or credits, so please, only purchase what you are certain you would like.

~ All tickets are $16.00

~ Seating is reserved, so each ticket will have a specific seat. (Just a note to say I often watch from the sound booth in the very back of theauditorium, and the view is awesome, you do not need to be super close to have a really great view.)

~ Due to the East Granby's fire code, there is no standing in the auditorium, at anytime. Everyone that enters the auditorium must have a ticket/seat, thank you for understanding.

~ Handicapped spaces are available. These seats will be marked in purple, rather than red. These spots do not have a chair, they are only for wheel chairs - thank you!

~ When you arrive, you will show your downloaded/printed ticket, or, pull up your digital ticket on a mobile device. We can scan either way.Please be sure you have your correct ticket for the correct performance, i.e. a ticket for the 2:00 pm show will not scan for the 6:00 pm show.

~ There will be no ticket sales at the door. Tickets need to be purchased online. Tickets can be purchased up until 30 minutes into the show. Please let your family and friends know, thank you.

~ Parents are not required to watch all shows from the audience. You may decide to attend 1, or all 3 shows, it is totally your choice. However - please note that parents will need a ticket for any show they plan to watch from the audience.

Dancer Show Policies (We realize all kiddos are different, so if you have any concerns about your dancer and what they do during the show, please just reach out to me.)

~ Dancers performing in the show do not need a ticket, unless you would like your young dancer (ages 8 and under) to come sit and watch the show with you after they’ve performed, and have their own seat. (If they sit on your lap, no need for a ticket.)

~ Dancers ages 9 and over will not come out into the audience at all during the show, they will stay back stage for the entire show, and bow with the company at the end of the show.

~ For dancers 8 and younger, there are a few options:

~ If their family is watching the show, they can be picked up backstage after they dance, and go to sit with their family (on a lap, or with a ticket/seat.) If they would like to bow at the end of the show, a family member should get them backstage to line up at least 2 numbers before the last dance.

~ If their family is not watching the show, they may be picked up backstage and brought home when they are done dancing, or, a female parent or guardian can stay backstage with them for the show so that they can bow at the end of the show.

Fall Dance Schedule is Ready!!

The wait is finally over! The fall schedule is now available, and registration is now open! Feel free to click around the website for more information, or check out the links below for everything you need to know! We can't wait to be back together in the studio for our 21st season!

Important Information:

Classes fill up quickly, so make sure to register soon!

Please look at all information before registering, and let me know if you have any questions. Once you register, there are no refunds or credits. We ask that you please consider classes, and your dancers’ commitment, carefully.
All discounts (multi-class and sibling) will be automatically applied at checkout. As you will read below, dancers utilizing the Single Dancer Training Pass are not able to sign up on Classbug. Please see separate form/info on this.

You have the option of paying for the full year, or, paying for the 3 sessions with auto-pay. We recommend auto-pay, as there is no fee for this option, and you are essentially paying for dance in 3 installments, at no additional cost. This option also allows the choice to discontinue if need be, and you will not be obligated to pay for the remaining sessions. If you do decide to pay for the full year, please understand that there are no refunds or credits at any point in the year.
If you are signed up for auto-pay, and your dancer decides not to continue for the next session, please contact me to let me know before the next session begins, and I can turn auto-pay off. There is no fee/penalty for discontinuing.
There is a $25 registration fee per family. This fee helps to cover the time and expense of processing registrations, the cost of our online registration system, entering students into our database and email list, setting up attendance and tuition billing, as well as insurance and our music license fees (both of which we are charged for based on the number of students we have enrolled.)
Dance will run in three 9-week sessions (however, we’ve added an extra week to the first and third session, at no additional charge, to make up for probable snow days.)

You can pay online with a credit card, or, ACH (direct bank payment/digital check).
Multiple class & sibling discounts will be automatically applied in your cart.
If a class is full, you have the option to add your name to the wait-list, and you will be notified if a space becomes available.
We are unable to save space in classes without payment. Thank you so much for understanding.
We do ask that you please remember that there are absolutely no refunds or credits once you’ve registered. So, please select classes carefully and thoughtfully.

Summer Dance Program & Holiday Performance!

- Open registration for Summer 2023 begins tomorrow!

If you have any friends that would like to join your dancers this summer, please feel free to pass it along! Please note that the "Frozen" program, and "Princess Power", have just a few spots left.

All summer programs will learn dances for, and perform in, our holiday show in December! Early-bird rates are good until April 10.

Please note that there a few changes to the schedule!

Monday: Run-through of the show at Nutmeg's: Please note the time changes - we are ending each act earlier, as we have been making great time at rehearsal!

Act 1: 4:00-5:15 pm

Act 2: 5:15-6:30 pm

Tuesday: This is the day we have set to call dances that could use some time to clean/go over things: We would like to have these groups join us:

Adv. Broadway/Saturday Night's Alright (4:30-5:00) *marley studio

Ballet B/A Thousand Years (5:00-5:20) *yoga studio

Adv. Hip Hop/Homecoming: (5:00-5:20) *marley studio

*Wednesday: Run-through of the show at Nutmeg's:

*We will be running bows, and learning a very simple finale dance at this rehearsal, if your dancer would like to bow at the end of the show, and learn this extra dance, please have them stay at this rehearsal to learn and practice. (We recommend dancers ages 8+ for Finale, as it can be a bit much for the younger kiddos - thanks!)

*Thursday: Run-through of the show at The Rome Farm, 19 Bushy Hill Rd, Granby, CT (Weather permitting - in the case of rain, we will be at the studio)

Act 1: 4:00-5:15

Act II: 5:15-6:30 (This includes bows & finale - if your dancer would like to bow and do finale, they need to stay until the end of this rehearsal to run them - thank you!)

* While this is not a true dress rehearsal (no costumes) we invite dancers to do their hair, make-up, and use any accessories/props they would like to test out for the show. Please be sure dancers have all their shoes for this rehearsal!

*T-Shirt signing! We will pass out show tees to anyone who ordered them at this rehearsal. Dancers are welcome to stay until 7:00 pm to have friends sign their tees. Please bring your own piece of cardboard to go in your shirt, and a sharpie marker!

Friday: Rest and get pumped!

Saturday: Show day! Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center

- Dancers should arrive at the theatre by 1:15 pm for the 2:00 pm show

- Dancers should arrive at the theatre by 5:45 for the 6:30 pm show

Please note : Tickets WILL be available at the venue, however, we can't predict how long the line will be. We recommend that families purchase in advance, so you can get into the audience area quickly, and relax! Tickets can be purchased here: https://28919.danceticketing.com/r/events/...

Picture Day 2021 Information and Sign-Up

We are so excited to share that we WILL be holding Picture Day this year! Obviously, we’ll need to run things a bit differently. Please see below for info.

Picture Day(s) will be held June 5 & 6.
Weather permitting, we will take photos outdoors at the Rome Farm in Granby, CT. If weather does not cooperate, we will take photos at the studio.
Photos will be taken by our very own lovely & talented Haley Rome!
We will be taking photos, and setting up time slots, by family. (There will be no group shots, so that we can operate safely, and allow dancers to remove masks for photos.)
If a dancer and their family would like them to have photos with a friend(s), they may decide to invite that person to their family time slot. We are of course happy to take sibling photos, too!
We ask everyone to please return their form, indicating the number of dancers in the family, as well as the number of dances/costumes each dancer will be taking a photo for. This will help us determine the amount of time to allot to your family.
We will also ask you to let us know your first choice for date - Saturday or Sunday. We will do our very best to accommodate. Date preference will be first come, first serve.
All sign ups are due by May 1. We will release the schedule a few days after we have received all sign ups.
The cost for picture day is $30/dancer, $55/2 siblings, or, a max of $75/family. This will include access to all photos Haley takes! We are sorry - but there are no refunds once you have signed up.
Please note that we need both your sign up form, and payment, to schedule and reserve your family time slot.

Since Tuesdays have been hit with a snow day already, we will be offering classes on Zoom today.

Remember check facebook group(s) for your dancer's classes. (You can find those groups by clicking here.) There, your teachers can communicate with you, and, share the zoom links for their classes. If you have any questions about zoom, just reach out to me or your teacher.

2021 Costume Prices and Info

Costume information is now available! Below is a download with a list of all the classes & costumes, and their costs (if applicable) for this year’s show. Costumes payments are due by February 10. This year, we’ve tried especially hard to be creative, and to find costumes that are affordable, and often, useful even after the show. Your average dance studio may charge upwards of $80 or more per costume, and we find that excessive and totally unnecessary. However, we do want every single dancer to look and feel great for their time to shine on stage!

Livestream option available in addition to in-person classes

Livestream and In-person is here!

We wanted to let you know that we are going to begin offering live-streaming of all of our dance classes. We will still be holding our in person classes, but are offering the livestream as an option for those who may have to quarantine due to contacts at school, travel, etc., or, for those who would prefer to live-stream at any point, for any reason they need to.

To be clear - we have not thus far, and do NOT currently, have any positive cases at the studio at this time! We do have students who have been asked to quarantine, due to students or staff at their school testing positive. We are in contact with all of our families, and are always taking any information we need to into consideration, to make what we believe are the best choices for our dance families; all while offering you options so you can choose what works best for your own family.

Please, if you haven't yet, join your dancers' facebook group for their class(es.) Here, your teacher can communicate directly with you, and, post the link for the livestream classes on zoom. We are so, so thankful that our dancers and families have been so careful, and that we have been able to operate safely this year. Our goal is to keep doing just that for as long as we possibly can. All we ask of you, is that you help us to able to continue. Please, be sure dancers wear masks in the studio, and, as they come and go. Parents, too. Please, be considerate of others, and our space, when deciding whether or not to attend class (traveling, quarantining, etc.) You have my word that I will continue to clean diligently, deeply, and often. We disinfect the studio daily, including all high contact surfaces and floors, we run the air purifiers at all times, and prop open the doors for fresh air when ever it is not too cold! Our dancers have been awesome about masks and keeping safe distances; they are incredible. Over Thanksgiving break, we are having a service come to do a super deep clean, too.

I want nothing more than to be able to continue to offer your dancers a space where they can safely connect, move, and learn. We will do our very best to do that, and we will adapt to the situation day by day, together. We have recently decided on our theme for this year's show, "In our Wildest Dreams." It seems a funny time to think about getting lost in our dreams, but, at the same time, it's a reminder that this is all temporary. We will stick together, and adapt, and care for each other; all while not losing sight of our hopes and dreams. It's ok to dream of better times, and to take steps towards creating those times, too. Whether we are in person, or on a screen, I'm so happy we have each other to dance and dream with. I personally don't know what I would do without this space, our teachers, and this family. That has never been clearer than it is this year!

If your dancer has not yet joined us this year, and would like to join us now that we are offering a live-stream option all of the time, please just reach out and let me know. We'd be happy to get them dancing from home!

Students are still being accepted on a rolling basis

We understand that in times like these, every family has to make the decision that feels best, and safest, for their family.

We also realize that now, more than ever our kids need a place to move, release, be challenged, and feel connected. We are doing everything we can to offer all of that, in a safe, and healthy environment.

We are running classes in nine week sessions, with absolutely no obligation to continue for additional sessions, unless you choose to.

We are so thankful that so many families are trusting us to offer their children a safe place to dance. We are honored, and will continue to do our best to keep our dear families safe, and well.

We are accepting students on a rolling basis this year, and still have space available in several classes.

When, and if, your family feels ready to join us in the studio, please don't hesitate to reach out. Our doors are always open for our Nutmeg's Families.

First Week of Dance!

Welcome Back!

I just wanted to check in with a few reminders for the year. Things might look a bit different, and we are definitely going to have to work and adapt as a team more than ever, but, I have no doubt that we will forge ahead like we always do, as a family, and have an incredible year of community, and dance!

A few quick reminders...

~ When dancers arrive to the studio, they should enter the door where their class is being held. If they are coming into the yoga studio, they should put their belongings in the yoga hallway cubbies. If they're entering into the lobby for class in the wood studio, their belongings should go into the lobby cubbies. If they're entering the marley studio, their belongings should go in the dressing room cubbies. Please - no personal items on the floor. And, please, dancers - leave cell phones with your belongings, and do not bring into the dance space. Also, please remove shoes before entering the studio.

~ Once your dancer has entered, they should either use our hand sanitizer, or, wash hands in the bathroom, please.

~ No food or drink, besides water, in the studio at this time. Thank you for understanding. (If dancers need to have a snack, we ask that they please step outside to do so.)

~ Teachers will check in with dancers as they arrive to be sure they are feeling well. Please understand - if a dancer is presenting any symptoms, we will take their temperature. If they have a fever, we will have to ask parents to bring them home. The best thing you can do, if your dancer is experiencing any symptoms of illness, is please keep them home, for their safety, as well as everyone at the studio. Thank you so much.

~ If your dancer has to miss class due to illness, or needing to stay home, please feel free to reach out to your class teacher, and ask them to film class. Then, they will post in your classes' facebook group. If you do not have a facebook account, you can create one for free. You do not need to add any photos, personal info, etc, all you need to do is have an account to join the group(s). It would be great if you could go ahead and join any of your dancer's class groups now, as this will be the easiest way for your teacher to communicate to their classes directly. ~ At this time, all dancers should wear face coverings when in the studio. The only students exempt from this policy are our pre-school classes: Beginning Dance, and Pre-Ballet. For those classes, we are continuing to follow the State of MA Early Childhood Education and Childcare recommendation, that this should be a decision parents make for their pre-school aged child. Teachers will be wearing face coverings for all classes.

~ Parents - we ask that you please drop your dancer off at the studio, or, wait outside during their class, at this time. Unfortunately, due to distancing requirements, and capacity limitations, we are not able to have additional people in the lobby during classes. Thank you so much for understanding!

~ Please look over what your dancer should wear to class. If they don't have everything this week, it's not a big deal at all, but please be sure they come prepared over the next few weeks. Reach out if you have any questions, or if there's anything we can help with. Read more on Class Attire

A note on full classes and classes that are close to full

Hi, everyone!

I wanted to check in with a few updates for the start of the dance year :) Please see below!

Full Classes: (please let me know if you'd like me to add your dancer to the wait list)

~ Adv. Hip Hop, Mondays at 5 pm

~ Adv. World Dance, Weds at 4:45 pm

~ Adv. Ballet, Sat at 10:30 am

Classes close to filling:

~ Adv. Beg. World Dance, Mondays at 7 (3 spots left)

~ Beg. Ballet, Tues at 4:45 pm (2 spots left)

~ Int. Ballet, Weds at 4:15 pm (3 spots left)

~ Adv. Rep., Fridays at 3 pm (1 spot left)

~ Adv. Modern, Saturdays at 12 pm (1 spot left)

If you are still planning to register your dancer, if you could do so asap, we would be so appreciative. This will allow us to plan classes, to know what is too small to run, to know where we have capacity available for helpers, etc. If you have any questions at all, please email me anytime. Also, I've re-pasted registration info and protocols to the bottom of this email in-case anyone missed it.

I realize this is a really tough year for kids with many sports & activities. We still have space available in many classes, and always welcome all levels; from absolute beginners with 2 left feet, through advanced. We are also offering boys classes again - woohoo! If you know of anyone looking to get involved in an activity this year - I would be so grateful if you would pass our information along. Notes for Registration 2020 / 2021

Classes begin September 28th!

~ Dance will run in three 9 week sessions (however, we’ve added an extra week to the first and third session, at no additional charge, to make up for probable snow days.)

~ Due to the extremely limited class sizes, there are absolutely no refunds or credits once you’ve registered. Please select classes carefully.

~ Please understand that many of our classes are operating at 40% of our usual capacity. We do recommend signing up early if your dancer has their heart set on any particular class. We are happy to add dancers to the wait-list for any classes. If guidelines change and we can add additional students, we will absolutely let you know.

~ We have done our best to offer more classes, and, to divide classes into smaller age groups, in the hopes that we can accommodate as many of our families as possible. Please be sure that your dancer only registers for classes that include their age group. We are very excited about these additions, as well as the wonderful new teachers we have coming on board!

~ Unfortunately, due to how much we have had to limit class sizes, we are so sad to say that we are not able to offer the Family Plan this year. This was an extremely difficult decision, that we really didn’t have much choice on, if we wanted to be able to continue to operate. We have offered the Family Plan for 17 years, but, unfortunately, with all of the current restrictions, it is just not viable at this time. I have done my best to offer multiple class discounts, and sibling discounts, as well, in the hopes we can still continue to make dance affordable for all of our families.

~ In the case of a pro-longed studio closure, we will finish out the current session with virtual classes, and, make decisions regarding future sessions at that time. While we will not be able to offer refunds, people are not obligated to pay or join future sessions, unless they choose to. Please note that if dancers would like to participate in the show, they will need to participate in all 3 sessions.

~ I’ve been in frequent contact with the Board of Health, as well as other MA dance studio owners, to ensure that we are doing everything we can to operate in a way that keeps our families healthy, and safe. Please see our “Covid 19 Protocols and Procedures” for more detailed information.

~ Online Registration:

~ You have the option of paying for the full year, or, paying for the 3 sessions with auto-pay. We recommend auto-pay, as there is no fee to take advantage of this option, essentially paying for dance in 3 installments, at no additional cost. If you do decide to pay for the full year, please understand that there are no refunds or credits at any point in the year. If you choose to sign up for auto-pay, and decide you would not like to continue for the next session, you can contact me to let me know, and I can turn auto-pay off, as long as you let me know before the next session has begun. If you are on auto-pay, there is no obligation to participate/pay for the full year if you decide not to continue.

~ You can pay online with a credit card, or, ACH (direct bank payment/digital check.)

~ Multiple class/sibling discounts will be automatically applied in your cart.

~ If a class is full, you have the option to add your name to wait-list, and will be notified if a space becomes available.

~ If for some reason you would prefer to sign up with paper registration/cash or check, please reach out to me. Please do note that this option may take longer, and, space may be less available by the time registration is received. If you need help with online registration - just reach out, I am happy to help!

THANK YOU, and BRAVO, to our dancers!!

I just wanted to reach out to one more time say THANK YOU, and BRAVO, to our dancers!! What felt like a bit of a wing and a prayer, turned out to be a truly incredible show! Safe to say our most memorable one yet! Things moved smoothly, the dancers danced with pure joy, the audience was engaged and supportive; it all came together in a way that was nothing short of a miracle! We did it!! Thank you again everyone, for your time, and for being apart of it. I love that we have something so beautiful & positive to remember from such a challenging year. In case anyone wondered, the answer is yes, we WILL always find a way to dance! ��

I also have some really beautiful photos from our rehearsals, and will try to create that album today as well! I will post it to our Nutmeg's facebook page.

I know many of you have asked about the Fall schedule - and I wish I had more concrete information to share. I am beginning to plan with the information I have to go on, however, the guidelines are still quite vague and limited. This summer, we were able to operate as a recreational day camp, which gave us very clear guidelines to follow. Unfortunately, the same can't be said at this time for regular dance studio operations. I am in contact with the board of health, and they are so great, and as helpful as they can be, but they, too, are waiting for more detailed information to pass along from the state. I have joined several online groups for MA dance studio owners, and am finding that helpful, but, they also are struggling in the same way. I have been told more clear information for activities like ours will be released from the state sometime this week - so my fingers are crossed!

Of course, things will look a bit different, but, this summer, and this show, have shown me that we can adapt beautifully. We can be safe, compassionate, hopeful, and, continue to find a way to do what we love.
